Could you be a volunteer puppy parent?

This fantastic Isle of Wight charity is looking for volunteers to foster Ability Dogs 4 Young People? Ed

We are training assistance dogs to help disabled young people here on the Isle of Wight.

You can help love and train a puppy, and see the rewards of helping change the lives of disabled young people.

We will show you how and we will pay for all the puppy’s expenses.

Part of the team
We are looking for Puppy Parents to help us love and train a puppy. As part of the team, you will be fully supported both at weekly puppy training classes and at home.

With our guidance you will help us prepare the puppy as he or she learns what it takes to be a fully trained and qualified Ability Dog 4 Young People. We provide food and equipment, and cover the costs of vet bills.

You may have a puppy for a few months or longer. When it comes time for each puppy to move on to the next stage of his or her training, you can be proud of your contribution. You will be able to follow his or her progress while you help with another puppy.

New charity helping Islanders
Ability Dogs 4 Young People, a newly formed charity, is training assistance dogs for young disabled people here on the Island. As these young people (aged 16-24) start their journey into adult life and look to increase their independence by going to college or work, our highly trained assistance dogs will provide practical help with tasks like picking up dropped items and opening doors. With a jacketed assistance dog by their side, they will have more confidence to go out on their own and, as importantly, more people will come and talk to them (about their dog).
