Cowes RNLI lifeboat made a short but necessary rescue trip into the Solent yesterday (Wednesday) evening, to reach a 33 foot yacht – with insufficient wind to sail and a broken down engine, and was drifting in the shipping lane.
Although the Georjie had originally been bound for Lymington, because the engine was out of action the crew was obliged to seek help through Solent Coastguards.
The yacht, with two people and a dog aboard, was towed by the lifeboat from well off Cowes Harbour to Shepards Wharf Marina.
The lifeboat launched at 6.17 pm and returned to station nearly an hour later.
