Cowes RNLI lifeboat responds to medical emergency on Solent yacht

A medical emergency involving a man who became ill on a 29-foot yacht led to the launching of Cowes RNLI lifeboat today (Wednesday).

The yacht, being sailed by two men, was two miles west of Cowes when Solent Coastguard were alerted to the problem.

Doctor onboard
The lifeboat launched at 12.37pm and eventually put two crew members on board, one of them a doctor.

The lifeboat then escorted the yacht to Trinity Landing where the man was taken by ambulance to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.

The lifeboat returned to station at 1.40pm.
