One Lap 8.4 mile South Wight Time Trial
On another cold day on Saturday 30th March, 12 riders braved the elements to contest the first of the South Wight Series Time Trials.

This challenging 8.4 mile circular course starts at Bleak Down and runs through Rookley, Chillerton, Chale Green, Appleford and back to Bleak Down.

Once again it was very cold at two Celsius and a driving easterly headwind made it hard going from Chale to the finish.

Winning his second time trial of the season in a row, was Matt Harris (pictured above) of mainland club …ac3rg in the fast time of 21:46. He was followed in by martin Piper in 22:41, then Sean Williams in 23:05, the latter two riders both from Island club Wightlink/Offshore RT.

Two Lap 16.8 mile South Wight Time Trial
The pressure was on for the first time in the 2013 season, with the second consecutive time trial of the weekend.

It was noticeably colder on the Sunday morning with -1 Celsius at the 08:30 start line.

Ambrosini:Despite this, nine riders lined up to ride double the distance of the day before and complete two laps of the undulating course.

The wind was a fresh Easterly again and with wind chill factor, the temperature was well below zero and there were a few icy patches on the course to be avoided.

Despite this, Simon Ambrosini of Wightlink LCM Systems (pictured) won in 47:19, made even more impressive as he had competed in a hilly 56 mile race on the mainland the day before!

He was followed in by fellow Wightlink LCM team mate James Brett in 50:41, with Vectis Roads CC rider Paul Martin third in 52:16.
