Making a mark at this year’s Ventnor Fringe Festival, three exciting new artists from the Isle of Wight are set to make their debut at EarsPeeled’s mini festival, A Day at the Fringe: : Mouth, Pet Lounge and Muffy, but who are they and why have we never heard of them before?
This show (a sell-out last year so grab your tickets now) is already boasting great indie acts from Coventry, Dublin and Bristol (read more about them here), but it wouldn’t be an EarsPeeled event without some top quality homegrown Isle of Wight music.
With tickets priced at just £20 for the entire day’s music – in a stunning setting right by the sea – A Day at the Fringe is an incredible value show.
MOUTH
Among the fresh talent is Mouth, a dynamic new quartet featuring Tom Farren, Chris Newnham and Emma Wilkinson of Plastic Mermaids fame, joined by Max Perry of Froglands PK. This four-piece ensemble is set to make its debut performance at A Day @ The Fringe on Saturday.
If you’re wondering what to expect get ready for an experiment of sorts, born out of a mutual love of Big Thief and synthesisers. The band say,
“You’ve heard of Mum jeans, we’re kind of like Mum music.”
PET LOUNGE
Pet Lounge is Coach Party drummer, Guy Page’s new solo project.
This Isle of Wight-based alternative / grunge act shares some familiar musical flavours with that of Coach Party, but Guy’s style here leans to a more rough, raw and grungy feel (for fans of Dinosaur Jr, Weezer, Saves The Day, Hell Is For Heroes).
Muffy
Muffy is joined by her band of besties to play her debut gig. With tales of angst and heartache, paired with playful sneak peaks into what gets talked about on wine night; you’re in for a time of laughs and boogies.
Consisting of Maisie McGregor (formally of the Pill & Plastic Mermaids Backing Vocals) and Fox Rawding (Froglands PK / Plastic Mermaids)
