Dementia support on the Isle of Wight: Charity event helps make a difference

Last updated:

This year’s Community quiz at Trinity Theatre was for the benefit of Alzheimer Cafe.

This annual event has been running for several years and has raised many thousands of pounds for local charities.

Run by CAODS
It is run by Cowes Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (CAODS), which is also a non-profit voluntary organisation and the quiz masters were the popular Pete and Tracy Asher.

Many thanks to everyone who attended and helped with this fund-raising event which raised £600.

What is Alzheimer’s Cafe?
Alzheimer’s Cafe is a charity which runs six cafes across the island providing informal education about dementia, guidance and signposting to other services.

They welcome people with dementia, their families, carers, professionals and anyone with an interest in dementia.

Dementia Centre for the Island
The charity has recently taken over the lease for Parklands in Cowes which will become a Dementia Centre for the Island which will be open daily and provide services, help and information.

Volunteer or donate
The building needs refurbishment so the charity is looking for help with any donations and for volunteers.

If you would like to get involved go to the Website.

Similarly, if you would like to get involved in theatre in Cowes, visit the CAODS Website.
