The BBC has been deliberating on DJ Alex Dyke‘s future since suspending him from BBC Radio Solent last week.
Today they have made their decision as to what will happen to the future of Alex Dyke at the BBC.
BBC: “Serious consideration”
A BBC Spokesperson told OnTheWight:
“Following serious consideration Alex Dyke will return to BBC Radio Solent tomorrow. Alex has been told in no uncertain terms that his comments were unacceptable, and he has apologised for any offence caused on and off air.”
Alex had, on his own Facebook page, posted:
Hi Guys, after taking some time out I just wanted to let you know I’m back on BBC Radio Solent tomorrow from 10am. Thank you so much for all your comments. I really will try to answer them all.
The recent history
The situation arose after his comments about the suitability – or his stance, the unsuitability – of women breastfeeding in public, during one of his phone-in programmes.
The reaction to his controversial programme was swift, a petition that within hours grew to 4,000+ signatures, ending up at over 11k before it was closed, following his suspension.
Prior to his suspension, the day after the controversial comments, the DJ apologised on-air.
Update 16:55: Added official word from BBC and changed text slightly to reflect.
