Double award for ferry employee

Chris Elliott, who works for the Isle of Wight ferry and holiday provider as contact centre team leader, was awarded the Blue Chip Recognition Award after completing his Level 7 Chartered Management Institute postgraduate diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership at City College Southampton.

Chris, who’s 27, said:

“Considering the level of experience and high calibre of my fellow students on the course it’s a great honour to receive the award. The course took 18 months to complete and it required a significant personal commitment but it’s all been worth it.”

After completing his course, which was paid for by Red Funnel, Chris was also selected to receive a qualification award from his employer, with a prize of £200.

Shirley Anderson, HR director at Red Funnel, said:

“We’re very proud of what Chris has achieved over the past 18 months. He has shown great dedication and application, both at work and during his studies, and these awards are recognition of that. Achievements like this highlight the value in our approach of investing in employees and supporting their professional development.”

Chris added:

“Red Funnel has invested heavily in my education and development and I’m grateful for their on-going support.”

Chris started working at Red Funnel in 2011 and during his employment has also worked as terminal operations team leader.
