Dyslexia Action ‘You don’t know what I’m capable of’ art appeal

Thanks to Andreea Tudor for sharing this with On The Wight readers. We’re sure that it will be of interest. Ed

This is an appeal for all dyslexic artists out there. The idea of the project is to raise awareness of people suffering from dyslexia and different types of learning difficulties.

We meet people with disabilities everyday. Sometimes we get the struggle, we ‘understand’, we are sympathetic. But not everyday do we give them the opportunity to show us what they are capable of and how creative they can be.

Charity exhibition
This is the main purpose of my charity exhibition. It will show what they can do, to make people aware of the fact that even if you are dyslexic, that doesn’t mean you are not capable of doing something amazing with your life.

In order to do so, a seven day exhibition will take place at the 1st Floor Gallery in Southsea, Portsmouth, starting with the 1st of April 2013, accompanied by a silent auction on the official opening day.

Open for entries
Only artists with learning disabilities and based in the South of England are permitted to exhibit.

All the proceeds are in aid of Dyslexia Action, a charity that helps people with learning difficulties (counselling, educational programmes etc.).

Registrations are due by 1st January and all artwork must be received by 15th February 2013.
