To commemorate Eddie Minghella’s 102nd birthday, a delightful surprise was organised this week.
A delivery of succulent ice cream was made directly to Minghella’s garden in Ryde.
A centenarian’s joyful celebration
In a picturesque setting, Eddie delightedly sat astride an ice cream bike, indulging in the popular Chocolate Bliss Minghella Ice Cream.
The centenarian’s joy was palpable as he sang Italian opera tunes with unabashed enthusiasm, immersing himself in the pre-birthday festivities.
A testament to time-honoured tradition
Minghella ice cream, a cherished Island delicacy for over seven decades, boasts a rich history.
The brand was founded in 1950 in Ryde by Eddie, who introduced his sumptuous, unchanged Italian artisan recipes to the Island. It was acquired in 2017 by Jenny Simmons and Louise Hart of Calbourne Classics.
Honouring the Minghella Legacy
Jenny Simmons shared,
“Observing Eddie revel in the taste of Minghella ice cream as he prepares to celebrate his 102nd birthday here in Ryde has been nothing short of phenomenal,”
“Since acquiring the brand, we’ve endeavoured to maintain its quality and uphold its heritage. We pay tribute to the remarkable Minghella family with every batch we produce.”
Minghella Ice Cream on the Festival Stage
This year, Minghella ice cream will feature at the Isle of Wight Festival.
It’s a golden opportunity for the brand to represent the high-quality products the Island produces in the Artists’ Village.
Celebratory Wishes for a Remarkable Man
As we toast to Eddie Minghella’s 102nd birthday (which is next week), the Island celebrates not only the man himself, but also his indelible contribution to its culinary heritage.
Tanti auguri di buon compleanno, Eddie!
