Eight police vehicles at St Lawrence involved in search (Update 2)

Further to the Tweet we put out at 4:30 this afternoon, where we reported that five Police cars had been seen outside the old Rare Breeds farm in St Lawrence, we’ve just had a call from another On The Wight reader.

They tell us that there are now eight Police vehicles there now, including two police vans (Update – Report of a helicopter involved too).

He told he’s never seen so many Police vehicles in one places, so he was compelled to ask what was happening.

The Police there told them that an elderly lady and her dog had gone missing and they were concerned about finding her before the evening closed in too much.

Let’s hope they have success.

Update 20:00: Other Island media have reported that the old lady was found over an hour ago. We’ve been unable to confirm this with the Police.

What we have just heard from someone on the scene right now is that there are still loads of Police, ambulance and fire service there.

It’s confusing why all of the emergency services are still there if, as they the other media say, the lady was found over an hour ago.

The very latest – Only minutes ago an ambulance left the scene with blue lights flashing.

Update 20:26: It’s now clear is that the lady was stuck in a bog in the woods and only left the scene at a little before 8pm. Totally unclear as to why other Island media was reporting that she had been found safe and taken to hospital.
