Explore iconic British holidays in a unique artistic light: ‘Wish You Were Here’ Exhibition heads to Ventnor Fringe

If you thought ice cream hues and deck chair stripes belonged exclusively to your fond summer memories, think again.

This year, those very elements have been delightfully incorporated into an innovative art exhibition taking place over Ventnor Fringe Festival, curated by none other than the internationally respected artist, Jo Hummel.

This exhibit, affectionately named ‘Wish You Were Here,’ aims to take attendees on a jaunty trip down memory lane, evoking the quintessential Great British seaside holiday.

Art through the looking glass of British holidays
Each work of art is an homage to the British seaside, featuring diverse elements such as arcade polka dots and sculptures reminiscent of seaside souvenirs. The real magic of the exhibition, however, lies in its ability to express this narrative through the lenses of eight contemporary British artists.

Dominic Beattie, Julian Brown, Robyn Graham, Ever Grainger, Laura Hathaway, Jo Hummel herself, Phil Illingworth, and Simon Linington have all contributed their unique voices to this collective artistic endeavour.

Experience British artistry in full swing
‘Wish You Were Here’ promises a delightful blend of nostalgia and artistic expression, mediated by artists who have all been touched by the iconic British seaside experience. This exhibition truly encapsulates the rich tapestry of British culture, serving as a testament to the breadth of artistic talent the nation boasts.
