Thanks to all the OnTheWight readers who got in touch about the Global March for Peace and Unity.

Islanders are planning to meet on 21st September on Ryde Esplanade by the Canoe Lake (swimming pool end).

Sue Barnes tell us,

“We’re meeting to show our support for a global belief that we can live a mutually peaceful existence, that we can all stand up and show that we believe it is possible to live in peace and harmony.

“There is no need to demonise people by their colour, creed, race, religion or any other way because we are all one. I believe that we care enough to stand up and be counted.”

Where and when
Sue goes on to say,

“Please join us and if possible wear bright colours and bring something to make a noise! Drums, shakers, didgeridoos, tambourines whatever! Let’s make this a joyful event to promote the desire for peace.”

If you would like to take part in the Global March for Peace and Unity, meet at 2pm on Saturday 21st September outside the Waterside Pool, Ryde Esplanade.

What the march is about
The Mission of the Global March states

To demonstrate to the world and its leaders, that any attempts to segregate us by fear because of our diversities will not succeed. Worldwide, people aspire to focus on a mutual peaceful existence.

All people of the world abundantly understand that we can coexist on this planet without any need for violence in resolving seemingly superficial disputes across artificial ‘man-made’ boundaries. This movement has emerged out of a sense of responsibility we all share to leave a better world for our children.

We aim to inspire all of humanity to unite for this day to clearly and publicly demonstrate that the world can and must respect each other’s differences and stand together united in peace, for humanity, our earth and the future.
