A good school with outstanding features is how the government’s schools inspectorate – Ofsted – describes Godshill Primary. Inspectors visited the school in the 13th and 14th November and gave Godshill a Grade 2 rating.
They report the school has strong links with parents, the governing body and the local community. Evidence of this is shown by the pupil’s outstanding personal development and well-being, high standard of their work and their contribution to the community.
The curriculum at the school is well balanced and interesting and promotes good levels of progression and skills. Good teaching strategies help make learning enjoyable and purposeful. Godshill Primary actively promotes equal opportunities and pupils as well as staff feel valued, safe and well supported.
Students show an excellent knowledge and understanding of how to keep safe and how to lead a healthy lifestyle. They had a key input into improving the quality of lunchtimes by helping to make them more pleasurable and a very sociable experience. The school has also made good progress in improving areas highlighted during the last Ofsted inspection.
Headteacher Louise Glover said “Our recent inspection has again shown what very good school Godshill Primary is. The brilliant team who work here is dedicated to providing the very best for all the children who attend every day. This is reflected in our inspection results and I would like to say a big thank you and well done to everyone who is working hard on behalf of all our children at Godshill Primary School.”
Isle of Wight Council’s cabinet member for Children & Young People Cllr Alan Wells said “This is a well deserved result for a well run school. Anyone visiting the school, as I did recently, cannot fail to be impressed by the happy atmosphere of children and staff who are clearly enjoying the learning process. I send my congratulations to all pupils, staff and parents for this excellent report”.
