The subject of tonight’s lecture by Ron Larham of BAE Systems will be torpedos.

One hundred and seventy years of Robert Whitehead’s Damned Device: a review of the past and future history of the automobile torpedo.

Since its’ emergence from the sea-mines and spar-torpedoes in the 1860-70’s the automobile torpedo (in modern language just plain torpedo) has been at cutting edge technology. In this talk we will look behind the curtain at some of the fascinating (mainly guidance and control) components of past, present and hopefully future torpedoes.

The event starts with refreshments from 7pm and lecture at 7.30pm.

For details of forthcoming lectures, see EventsOnTheWight.
