Island-based software developer, gets ‘Sweetest’ welcome home after award

A father from East Cowes received a welcome home that is now whizzing around the world.

Ben Dyer is part of a team behind a mobile App that has just won an award at a conference in Amsterdam.

In an article headlined ‘The sweetest photo to come out of The Next Web Europe Conference’ was published on The Next Web (TNW), with the family snap of Ben and his daughter outside his family home on the Isle of Wight. It’s already been shared on Social media by nearly 500 people.

Powered Now wins award
The company, Powered Now, won the Best Mobile App award within the TNW Startup Rally, a section of TNW’s yearly The Next Web Conference where startup companies get to present their project to the assembled conference audience, get questioned Dragon’s Den style, to help them get noticed.

Following the grilling, Powered Now, which is aimed at making tradesmen’s lives more simple through the app, was judged as the winner of their category (here are their competitors).

It’s a distributed company – meaning there isn’t a single office they all go and work at – with each working from their own, for example, Ben is in East Cowes; the software developer, Zoltan Magyar, is based in Hungary and the investor, Chris Barling, based in Teignmouth, Devon.

An award like this should give them a great kickstart in getting their App out to the world.

Update 5:30pm Changed photo which featured Ben’s daughter at the family’s request, to one with just Ben.
