Many thanks to VB reader Richard Howard for alerting us to yesterday’s BBCR4 World Tonight programme.
We were out at the time and unable to get to a radio, but thanks to BBC’s iPlayer, we could listen again today.
In the programme, reporter Ritula Shah travels to across the Island to find out how the life has been affected by changes in the economy.
It features discussions with Gloria Minghella, Sally Munday from IW Age Concern, Ventnor Town councillor Harry Rees, ex-Vestas worker Glynn Milton, leader of the council David Pugh and Dr Andrew Ryder from Portsmouth University.
Given the drastic cuts looming over the Island, some might say that Cllr Pugh was given an easy ride by the BBC reporter.
Why not listen to the programme yourselves and come to your own conclusions.
Listen to the programme – skip to 16.20 for Isle of Wight report.
