A product invented by an Isle of Wight technology company has been named Data Science/Artificial Intelligence Innovation of the Year at the inaugural Innovation Awards in Portsmouth.
Shanklin-based Innovative Physics impressed the judges with their Hot Spot Locator which uses gamma imaging technology to allow users to easily and safely identify and grade radiation contamination.
Celebrating work of most innovative businesses
The awards were organised by Portsmouth newspaper ‘The News’ in association with Portsmouth City Council to celebrate the work of the most innovative businesses in Portsmouth and the surrounding region.
Innovative Physics was thrilled to win the Data Science/AI Innovation of the Year Award which was sponsored by the University of Portsmouth. The award was accepted in person on the day by Peter Kittermaster, an Application Physicist at the company, with the rest of the team watching remotely via an online live link.
Worrall: ‘Interesting, innovative, international’
Dr Chris Worrall, Innovation Director at the University of Portsmouth, presented the award with the judges noting the ‘interesting, innovative, international’ nature of the technology firm’s work.
Kittermaster: A great honour
Peter Kittermaster said,
“It was fantastic to see all of the innovative ideas and technologies emerging along the south coast and winning the award for data science/AI innovation of the year was a great honour, the judges from the University of Portsmouth were impressed with our real-world applications and are extremely excited to see what the future holds for Innovative Physics.”
