Isle of Wight couple arrested on suspicion of £100,000+ VAT fraud

An Isle of Wight business couple have been arrested as part of an investigation by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) into a suspected VAT fraud, believed to be more than £100,000.

Cowes and Yarmouth business premises
HMRC officers arrested the man and woman at a residential property in Cowes this morning. The residential address and two business premises in Cowes and Yarmouth have been searched.

Computers, business and personal records were seized during the operation.

Bailed until March 2017
The man and woman have been interviewed by HMRC officers and bailed until 27 March 2017, pending further enquiries.

The 40-year-old man and 38-year-old woman from Cowes, Isle of Wight, were arrested in connection with a suspected VAT fraud.
