Readers will remember that Islander Jack Botha was due to take part in the final for the River Cottage Rising Star competition yesterday.
Jack has been in touch with OnTheWight this morning with an update.
He said,
“The final went really well last night. I met Hugh and Gill and all of the gang and got some lovely words of wisdom from them.
“Unfortunately, I didn’t win, however, the experience was invaluable.”
He may not have won first place, but Jack did come away with a 12 month apprenticeship. He added,
“Even though I didn’t win, I am now going to be working closely with the media and marketing department at River Cottage HQ. I will de devising recipes with Flo and Sam and then we’ll be doing some filming for Youtube and River Cottage’s social media.
“I have secured my place on their Young Chef Apprenticeship Scheme for 12 months and will be training at the HQ for about 25 days.”
Well done Jack, we’re sure you’ll go far.
