Feeling a little lost without the Isle of Wight Jazz Festival this year?

Quay Arts have the perfect antidote that is guaranteed to lift the spirits! Jazz enthusiasts will be delighted to learn that Joe Stilgoe, a talented vocalist and piano player is performing at Quay Arts on Sat 18 April, 8pm.

Expect to be charmed by his outstanding wit and talent.

Joe Stilgoe is a formidable piano player and his vocal range has been described as “wonderful” by New York cabaret legend Steve Ross, although it seems effortless it stems from a background of classical training that started at the tender age of five.

A life steeped in music – both parents were professional musicians, spotted his talent at the piano and encouraged him to practise (sometimes bribes were used).

Through his father, songwriter Richard Stilgoe, he began to learn and love the songs that made Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Mel Torme and Harry Connick Jr. (all strong influences) famous.

From his mother, opera singer Annabel Hunt, he learned the discipline and understanding needed to tackle a career in music.

This young musician’s skill stretches far beyond his years and his strong music pedigree means audiences will be wowed by this rising star!

Joe has drawn comparisons with singer/pianists such as Nat King Cole, Harry Connick Jr, Buddy Greco and former Candid artist Jamie Cullum, so jazz lovers who don’t miss the chance to discover this serious musician having fun!
