An investigation is continuing into a report of a burglary at a school on the Isle of Wight.
The break-in took place at the Hunnybees pre-school building on the site of Hunnyhill Primary School in Albany Road, Newport.
A black Samsung N150 notebook laptop in a ‘Tech21’ soft case, a Panasonic hard drive camcorder in a black case, and £70 in cash and coins, were all reported stolen.
Not-for-profit organisation
Pre-school owner and manager Lisa Whitehead said: “This is the first time we’ve had a burglary at the pre-school. It’s upsetting because the real victims are the children who’ve had equipment for their education taken away. Hunnybees is a not-for-profit organisation so money is invested back into our facilities. I hope someone can come forward with information to help the police catch whoever was responsible and recover the children’s equipment.”
Investigating officer PC Hayley Connaught of the Isle of Wight’s Targeted Patrol teams (TPT) said: “I’d like to thank everyone who’s helped with our enquiries in the community so far. Residents and businesses have responded to requests to be vigilant for anyone acting suspiciously or attempting to sell property matching the descriptions of these stolen items.
“I would like to ask people again to report any suspicious activity they might remember noticing in the Albany Road area of Newport between 6.40pm on Tuesday, February 8 and 8.15am on Wednesday, February 9, when the burglary happened.”
