A George Jenkins lorry has lost it’s load in Newport and caused a major disruption around the Parkhurst Road, Horsebridge Hill area.

Lorry Spill Causes Havoc in  NewportWe’ve had many reports coming in from VB readers on Twitter and Facebook, updating us of the developments.

The Twitter alerts were the first to arrive, Wightcat_Crafts told us “Horsebridge hill closed to traffic from cowes police diversion via noke common” followed by updates, “nothing is being allowed past B&Q island no access to st marys unless you go via back entrance.”

Matthew Somerfield reported an hour ago that “Accident closed Newport road in and out of cowes.”

Twelve minutes ago, he updated us further “Just to make the traffic problems worse going toward Newport some1 broken down on Whitehouse Lane.”

Cris Haldenby told us, “Newport dual carriage way closed. lots of police at roundabout by B+Q and St Marys. Not sure what’s going on. But long delays.”

Seb Clark also alerted us to the problem through Twitter, “There’s a crash on horse bridge hill go other way to get to cowes or Newport.”

Katy Harwood Just seen it, its on the corner by the entrance to Camphill… Currently a few police cars and a couple of lorries and a crane down there – police sending everyone from Cowes round by Nokes Common – Looked like some bits of white plastic sheeting on the floor.. not sure what the load was. The crane was busy lifting when I came past so might not be too long till its open again.
