Thanks to Wendy Varley for this interesting look at Island loyalty cards. If you have something you want to share with our readers, feel free to get in touch. Ed
We’re all familiar with supermarket loyalty cards such as Nectar, but with the credit crunch upon us, it’s good to see independent shops on the Isle of Wight offering loyalty schemes to encourage us to buy local and save pennies (or pounds) in the process.
Godshill Organics introduced a loyalty card just before Christmas, which earns shoppers a stamp for every £10 spent.
A complete card of ten stamps means you get 10% off your next shop. For me that represents a major saving. I’m already on my third card.
Chale Green Stores‘ “local rewards” offers a stamp for each £5 spent, and 40 stamps equal £5 to spend in store. So that means spend £200 for £5 off.
Not as generous as the Godshill scheme, but better than a kick in the teeth.
The other loyalty card in my purse is from Union, Liz Earle‘s skincare store in Ryde. Every time I shop there my card is stamped (regardless of whether I’ve spent a little, or a lot), and a full card of eight stamps entitles me to a free gift.
The more loyalty cards you’ve completed, the better the gift gets. I’m on my fourth (which represents years of loyal custom!), and when I completed my third I got a triple set of moisturisers worth approx £42.
Anyone know of any other Isle of Wight loyalty card schemes to share with VentnorBlog readers?
