Martin Parr rates Ventnor third best British seaside town

In a Telegraph article today, world-renowned photographer, Martin Parr, has named Ventnor, as his third favourite British beach.

Long time readers will know that Martin is a regular visitor to the Isle of Wight and Ventnor in particular.

We met up with him back in 2008, when he visited the town during a School of Life weekend photography course.

Of Ventnor, Martin says,

The whole island feels like you’ve stepped back into the Fifties but this resort, favoured by Queen Victoria, is the most charming. It has a beautiful setting, with hills coming right down to the beach, and pretty converted Georgian beach huts on the front. The same old guy has been renting them out since forever, along with some very high-class canopied deckchairs.

Ventnor was beaten into third place by Beer, Devon (which took second place) and Tenby, South Wales which tops the table.
