News OnTheWight shares a comprehensive monthly update on deaths, hospitalisations, vaccinations and positives Covid-19 tests on the Isle of Wight.

Deaths
The Office for National Statistics report no new deaths took place during week 21 (deaths that occurred up to 27th May 2022, but were registered up to 4th June 2022).
As of 27th May, the cumulative number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate on the Isle of Wight was 435 – a rise of 13 in the last month.
As of 9th June 2022, the Government Dashboard records the total number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test was 400 – a rise of five in the last month.
Covid patients in hospital
The Covid dashboard shows that as of 7th June the number of Covid-19 patients in hospital was three – a drop of 11 in the last month.
The Government dashboard also reports that none of those Covid patients are relying on mechanical ventilation.
Vaccinations
The number of Covid-19 vaccinations given on the Isle of Wight totals 314,570.
The total number of people who have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 8th June 2022 was 113,702.
The total number of people who have received the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 8th June 2022 was 108,913.
The total number of people who have received a booster or third dose of Covid-19 vaccine, reported up to 8th June 2022 was 91,955.
Confirmed positive cases
The latest confirmed data for the number of new positive Coronavirus (Covid-19) tests over seven days (2nd-8th June) on the Isle of Wight totals 115 – a rate per 100,000 population of 81.56.
14 of those are thought to be reinfections (ie. people who have had Covid before and caught it again).
The cumulative total since the pandemic began now stands at 40,737 – a rate per 100,000 population of 28,891.49.
Age breakdown
The table below shows the breakdown of positive Covid-19 tests over the last week for under 20s, 20-59 year olds and 60+ compared to the previous week.
