Music For Ukraine at the Quay Arts got off to a flying start on Sunday 27th March with enthusiastic audiences for all acts between 12 noon and 8pm.
Over £2,000 was raised for MAD-Aid, the local charity who fund and organise the delivery of donations to Ukraine and surrounding countries, and are also setting up orphanages and refugee camps in the area.
Local musician Jim Thorn put together a varied programme of live acts which included mainstays of the local scene such as Paul Armfield, Brian Sharpe, JC and Angelina and Damien Paul.
Thorn: Delighted with the audience support
Jim said,
“I was delighted with the audience support given that it was also Mothers’ Day and our event was organised at very short notice.
“Not only was an excellent sum raised for charity, but it was a great social occasion and a chance for lots of musicians and fans to see each other again, in some cases for the first time since Covid first appeared”.
Next event
The lineup for Sunday 3rd April has been announced and it promises to be just as popular, with many local bands taking part and music starting at 12 noon.
