MyVoice in the Isle of Wight libraries started as a small group in Newport with some teenagers from Cowes, Newport, Sandown and other places.
The funding has meant we have been able to spread out and start other groups, starting with Sandown.
Book buying event
So far in Newport we have had a very successful book buying event where teenagers from the MyVoice group came to Waterstone’s with us and spent some funding on the books they wanted in the teenage area.
Huxley the Magician came in and did a family show that ended with a small group of MyVoice teens being taught some magic.
Paint the teenage area
On Saturday the 16th June, we’re giving teenagers the chance to come in and work with a local artist to paint the teenage area and make it feel more like their own.
We also have other events being organised as we speak. More to follow.
