Vectis Radio has been nominated for another award, this time it’s a Young Audio Award for the 4Ps Radio Training School in the Achievement within the Community category. The school was nominated for these awards two years ago and this time there is a real chance of winning Gold.
Young Audio Awards
The Young Audio Awards are a collaboration by commercial radio and the BBC and celebrate young people with a talent for producing audio content.
The Awards are supported by Acast, Arqiva, BBC Sounds, Broadcast Bionics, Fun Kids, KISS and BBC Young Reporter.
Currie: We punch well above our weight
Kelvin Currie, Trustee of the Vectis Radio 4Ps Training School, said,
“It is a great honour just to be nominated for these prestigious national awards. It shows that for a community radio station with a relatively small number of volunteers, we punch well above our weight.
“Thank you to the 4Ps students too, without them and their enthusiasm, we wouldn’t be where we are today.”
Currie: Professionalism in researching, presenting and podcasting their shows is to be admired
Trustee Maggie Currie said,
“Having seen how much the 4Ps young people have learned and implemented over the past year, I can understand why they have been nominated.
“Their professionalism in researching, presenting and podcasting their shows is to be admired.
“They continue to help other young people in the community to increase their confidence as well as improve their own abilities. I am very proud to be associated with this amazing training school.”
Parkinson: Delighted the amazing work has been nationally recognised
Trustee David Parkinson said,
“We’re delighted that the amazing work undertaken by our local station has been nationally recognised.
“We see a wide range of young people whose contact with the 4Ps programme gives them hugely increased self-confidence and better opportunities for their eventual employment.”
Mac: The accolades seem to keep coming our way
Ian Mac, Founder of the 4Ps Training School said,
“Wow! Just to be nominated is awesome I am very proud of our achievements and the accolades seem to keep coming our way.
“The set up is tried and tested by amazing young people and with the main ingredients of radio we boost confidence and communication in young people but I wish we had more funding so we can help more people that really need it.”
The ceremony will be hosted by Jordan North and Vic Hope, from BBC Radio 1, on 23rd March at the BBC Radio Theatre in London. It will be streamed live.
See Vectis Radio Website for more information about the station and opportunities they offer.
