Parents of children with special educational needs are being invited to an event where they can learn more about the dozens of services available on the Isle of Wight.
The 10th annual Special Educational Needs Information Day is being held on 8 March at the Isle of Wight College in Newport.
The event is organised by the Parent Partnership, a service supported by the Isle of Wight Council. The aim of the conference is to offer parents and carers of children with special educational needs, and the professionals involved in supporting them, the opportunity to gain information about the services available on the Isle of Wight.
There will be an exhibition area with over 30 displays from children’s services, schools, voluntary organisations and health services. Staff will be available to answer questions and provide information on a wide range of subjects. Visitors can also take part in a series of workshops. Booking seats at the workshops is advised although not essential.
A number of guest speakers will be giving presentations this year. They include Isle of Wight Council’s Director of Children’s Services Steve Beynon and Sally Bunday MBE, the founder of the Hyperactive Children’s Support Group – a registered charity which has been successfully helping children with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and their families for nearly 30 years.
The conference takes place between 0930 – 1530 and is free, including lunch and refreshments.
