Following on from our note about bus diversions during the Scooter Rally, below are details taken from the council’s website in relation to road closures. In their own words.
Esplanade will be closed from George Street to Dover Street Roundabout between approx 11.30am and 2.30pm on Sunday 28 August 2011 to allow the annual August Bank Holiday Scooter Ride out to take place from Quay Road Car Park.
The arrangements have been put in place by Ryde Town Council, The Isle of Wight Council and the Police to ensure the event takes place in safety.
The ride out is due to start at 1pm.
NOTE: Due to the numbers of pedestrians spectators and the numbers of scooters taking part in the event vehicles will not be permitted to enter or leave from Quay Road Car Park or the Hovercraft Terminal from approx 11.30am until 2.30pm.
