Following a year’s worth of fundraising, colleagues at Sainsbury’s Newport Isle of Wight have managed to raise £2,454.67 for the IW Branch National Autistic Society.

Back in May last year, Sainsbury’s Newport Isle of Wight customers voted for the IW Branch National Autistic Society to be considered to receive a year’s worth of support from the store, situated in Foxes Road, Newport.

Charity of the year
The charity, which supports children and families living with autism was announced as the store’s new Local Charity Partner last June.

During the year, the charity, situated on Foxes Road was supported by store colleagues through a number of fundraising activities. Highlights included Bag Packing days, collection, Carol Singing, Baxter Bear visiting on Valentine’s Day and a Quiz Night.

Helped raise profile of charity
Tesni Challis, Branch Fundraising Officer from the IW Branch National Autistic Society said, “We’re really grateful for the fantastic efforts of the colleagues and customers at Sainsbury’s Newport Isle of Wight. They have really helped to raise the profile of our charity on the Isle of Wight. We’d like to thank every customer who’s helped contribute to this fantastic total.

“The money donated to IW Branch National Autistic Society will make a big difference by enabling us to continue to provide support through our after school clubs, special days out and local parent support groups.”

Customers driving force
Store Manager Paul Dyer added, “From volunteering to the many fundraising activities that we’ve held, our customers have been driving force in making our fundraising efforts for IW Branch National Autistic Society.

The money we’ve raised is really going to help a local charity that’s close to many people’s hearts in the Isle of Wight area.
