“A wonderful scramble of bodies”; “Movement and power”; “Monumental and witty!”; “Loved that there wasn’t a straight line to be seen”.
These are just some of the visitor comments at Isle of Wight artist Sandy Kendall’s latest exhibition at Quay Arts.
Showing in the West Gallery at Quay Arts, Newport until 26th November 2023, MANIFESTATIONS brings together large scale and contrasting works, from vibrant and colourful canvases, to tonally muted works on cloth combining drawing, painting and printmaking.
Ian Whitmore, Quay Arts Visual Arts Manager, said,
“The lively compositions of bodies, inspired by myths and classical and contemporary art, roam and jostle within their designated zones and at times have escaped entirely in the form of two-dimensional sculptures that appear around the gallery.
“The work, several years in the making, is given breathing space at Quay Arts allowing for uninterrupted viewing of individual works as well as views into and across curated arrangements.”
