Snapshot of Isle of Wight’s biodiversity: Naturezones’ anniversary photographic competition

Last updated:

As part of its 15-year celebrations, Naturezones has announced an Isle of Wight Wildlife Photographic Competition.

This notable event, part of the anniversary festivities, encourages residents to capture the essence of Island wildlife through the lens of their camera.

Details of the competition
The winner will be determined by popular vote, turning this event into a community-oriented showcase of talent.

In an exciting twist, the top twelve entries, as decided by public voting, will find their place in Naturezones’ debut calendar for 2024.

This initiative is not only an opportunity for budding photographers to exhibit their talent, but also a chance for the audience to actively participate in the selection process.

Sponsors
Adding to the significance of the competition, sponsors’ names will also be printed in the calendar, linking their support directly with this remarkable endeavour.

Entries for the competition must be submitted framed, adhering to an A4 size, in either landscape or portrait format.

Showcase and submission
All entries will grace the walls of the Naturezones pavilion throughout the month of August, transforming it into a dynamic gallery featuring the Island’s rich biodiversity.

To ensure novelty and originality in the submissions, photographs that have been previously published are not eligible for entry.

Moreover, all photographs should be captured after September 2022, adding a fresh perspective to the Island’s vibrant wildlife.

Deliver in person
Participants are requested to deliver their entries to Naturezones, located in Blackwater, on either the 23rd, 25th, or 27th of July between 11am and 3pm.

To maintain fairness and equality in this competition, each participant is allowed one entry and must be over 18 years of age.

The art of wildlife photography
Photography of Island wildlife offers a fantastic opportunity to engage with nature in a meaningful way.

A comment from Angela Hewitt, founder of Naturezones, emphasised that one does not require a big expensive camera to participate in this competition. All that is needed is an eye for a good, well-balanced image.

The event invites both professional and amateur photographers alike, encouraging a wider participation.

Call for sponsors
Moreover, Naturezones has also put out a call for more sponsors to support this competition.

Their involvement will not only aid in the success of the event but also highlight their commitment to celebrating the local biodiversity and community talent.
