St Helens Village of Angels event celebrates tenth year

On Saturday the annual St Helens Village of Angels event got underway with a Christmas Fayre and the lighting of the Village Christmas Tree.

The Village of Angels is celebrating its tenth year. It was originally the idea of local artist Leigh Jackman, but in the last few years it has been organised and run by the Vice Chair of the Parish Council, Sarah Elliott.

Fundraising for local causes
This year monies raised are going to support the Village Primary School and Events in the Village, including planned celebrations for the coronation of King Charles the Third

‘Angels Tour’ of the Village
If you want to take an ‘Angels Tour’ of the Village you can pick up a map from the Village Shop or The Vine Inn which shows the Angels that have landed so far!

Entries are still open however and judging will take place on 3rd December.

Sustainable entries and cash prizes
As is always the case, participants are encouraged to use recycled materials and solar powered lighting wherever possible to create their Angel.

The first prize for adult entries is £50, with second and third prizes of £30 and £10. WHSmith vouchers are being awarded for Childrens entries. The first prize voucher is valued at £20.

Elliot: Incredible and inventive artwork
Sarah Elliot, Parish Council Vice Chair and organiser of St Helens Village of Angels said:

“I am incredibly pleased and proud that the Village of Angels has reached its tenth year. It is a unique and special celebration of the Festive season in St Helens which celebrates our wonderful community, as well as raising money for local good causes.

“I hope as many people as possible will come and view the incredible and inventive artwork of local residents and that it inspires people to donate something to support our local school and local events.”
