Members of the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service will be attending two school summer fairs in Ventnor in the next week.
They’ll be using the inflatable smoke room (watch the video below) to help residents understand what it’s like when a room fills with smoke from fire.
Groups of eight are taken into the smokehouse where synthetic smoke is used. It’s all very safe and a great way to educate families on happens in a worse case scenario.
Fire crew use this exercise to show the importance of not only having a working smoke alarm fitted, but also it reinforces the need of always having an escape plan.
Where and when
The inflatable smokehouse will be at a number of summer fairs over the coming weeks including, St Francis Primary School tomorrow (Saturday 20th June between 11am-3pm) and St Catherine’s School next Friday (26th June 12.30-3pm)
