Friday 3rd July at 7.45pm (please note day and time) will see the Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra take to the stage of the Medina Theatre to perform their final concert of the season.

This concert will be a celebration of American music and promises to be a bit of an end of season party!

Bernstein, Copland, Sousa and Grofe
The concert will open with Bernstein’s popular overture “Candide”, and will also feature music by Copland and Sousa.

The highlight of the first half of the concert will be a performance of the rarely heard “Grand Canyon Suite” by Ferde Grofe.

Piano soloist
The soloist for the evening will be the pianist Viv Mclean who will be making a welcome return to the Island to perform two works by Gershwin, variations on “I’ve got Rhthym” and the better known “Rhapsody in Blue”.

The Orchestra are particularly looking forward to playing the theme tune to “Jurassic Park”, especially as the latest film is due out very soon.

The concert is already proving very popular with the music loving Islanders, and at the time of writing, there are less than 55 tickets remaining!
