Tennyson At National Portrait Gallery

Tennyson admirers may be interested to hear about a case display currently on at the National Portrait Gallery in Central London.

Tennyson At National Portrait GalleryUntil the 15 November this year, room 24 has a case display marking the bicentenary of the birth of poet Alfred, Lord Tennyson.

As most Islanders will know Tennyson was Poet Laureate from 1850 until his death in 1892 and he was one of the pivotal figures of the Victorian era.

We’re told that the display features images of the celebrated poet throughout his career, including photographs by Julia Margaret Cameron.
