Tips On Finding BBC1 After Digital TV Switch-Over

When we asked Islanders what their experience of the ‘final’ stage (more on that below) of switching to Digital TV had been like this morning, quite a few on the VB Facebook wall said that they’d lost BBC1 and BBC2.

BBC1 re-tune confusionOthers said that they could find those channels, but they weren’t in the right place – ie not on channel 1.

Luckily another VB reader, Lisa Dyer, came up with a solution that we thought others would benefit from seeing.

After finding her BBC1 and BBC2 strangely up on channel 813 and 814 today, she got to work trying to figure our how to fix it.

The ‘Lisa Dyer method’
She left a very useful comment on the VB Facebook wall.

  1. Unplug the aerial, then re-scan for channels
  2. Nothing should be found, so all channels are deleted
  3. Plug the aerial back in and re-scan again
  4. Bingo, they should now all be there in the correct place!!

18th April – Another re-tune ahead
It’s also worth noting that there’s another date of significance for the Digital TV switch-over on the Island.

HTH commented on VB that they’d noticed that, “Although promoted as a 2 stage switch-over there appears to be a further retune required on 18 April for Rowridge.” Information that is backed up on the DigitalUK Website.

As Janet Scott commented on VB, Radio Solent had mentioned that “if you rely on a local booster station, they are not on full power until April.
