Tour of Britain chooses Mountbatten as official charity of final stage of prestigious cycle race

Mountbatten will be the official charity of the final stage of this year’s Tour of Britain.

The finale of the prestigious event, featuring the world’s best riders, will be held on the Island on Sunday 11th September.

Mountbatten will work alongside the tour organisers to maximise opportunities to promote its brand and services over the race weekend.

Hartley: Really grateful to the organisers for welcoming us
Nigel Hartley, Mountbatten CEO, said,

“We are really excited to be part of what promises to be a really amazing spectacle.

“All eyes will be on the Island for the Tour of Britain race and I am delighted we can be involved.

“This will be a fantastic opportunity to raise the profile of Mountbatten, our work and how we support people in so many ways.

“We are really grateful to the organisers for welcoming us as the official race charity and we look forward to announcing more details about our plans in the coming weeks.”

Locals and visitors are expected in their thousands to visit the Island to watch the race. It will also be televised to a global audience.

Myles: A treasured charity close to the hearts of many Islanders
Will Myles, Managing Director of Visit Isle of Wight, said,

“It is absolutely great Mountbatten is the chosen charity for the final stage of the Tour of Britain, right here on the Isle of Wight.

“The work the team at Mountbatten carry out in the community is well known, it is a treasured charity close to the hearts of many Islanders and I know local people will want to support Mountbatten in September during the Tour of Britain.”

The riders will start in Ryde and make their way to The Needles via most of the main Island towns and parishes.

Jones-Evans: A national platform to raise awareness on
Cllr Julie Jones-Evans, Cabinet member for regeneration and business development.

“I’m delighted Mountbatten are the official charity of this year’s Tour of Britain, it is truly great news for our Island community.

“Mountbatten rely heavily on fundraising income to ensure they can continue to support Island people and their families when they need it most.

“Tour of Britain provides a national platform for them to raise awareness of the vital work they do for our Island.”
