Tune into lecture on ‘Delivering the first gigabit wireless connected railway’

The Solent Network and an Isle of Wight Section of the IET (The Institution of Engineering and Technology) has launched their latest season of events with the first taking place (online) on Wednesday evening (19th October).

The local volunteer committee of the IET endeavour to organise a number of lectures/presentations each academic year.

Delivering the first gigabit wireless connected railway
Wednesday evening’s lecture, presented Karl Liriano, Chief Technology Officer – evo-rail aims to describe the demand for connectivity, what a future connected railway could look like, the benefits, the challenges in deploying a solution, the possible solutions, the network we have deployed and its performance and future evolution.

It will include the recent project on delivering gigabit wireless to the Isle of Wight Island Line.

This first event (with Island context) is not based on the Island, but may be joined online by registering in advance.

Future events
The local in-person post-Covid events at the Bargeman’s Rest are scheduled to commence on Thursday 24th November 2022, with further events on the last Thursdays of January, February, and March 2023.

These will be listed here and at the IET’s main events page.
