Coastguard, Police, ambulance and fire are attending the Freshwater section of the Military Road.
It’s understood that two people, confirmed to be a man and a woman, have fallen off the cliff near The Albion Hotel.
Details are patchy at the moment. It’s understood that they’re conscious and breathing. Currently unsure of injuries.
The Coastguard with helicopter are understood to be taking part in a cliff rescue, assessing how far the couple have fallen.
Update 8.35pm: Thanks to Ian North who tells us,”helicopter has now left.” According to AIS site, it’s making its way to Southampton.
Update 8.45pm: The Coastguard have confirmed that the woman who had fallen was being airlifted to Southampton Hospital and the man is being treated by paramedics on the scene and assessed as to whether he needs to go to St May’s hospital.
Our thoughts and best wishes are with the couple for a speedy recovery.
