Medina Publishing are delighted to be celebrating the release of their latest publication, Treasures and Curiosities from the collection of Carisbrooke Castle Museum By Dr. Rachel Tait and Kate Tiley.

Established in 1898 by Princess Beatrice, Carisbrooke Castle Museum was intended to be a treasury for objects illustrative of the Islands history.

125th anniversary
In the 125 years since, the museum has collected almost 35,000 artefacts and many have never been viewed by the public, their stories left uncovered, until now.

Treasures and Curiosities takes 100 of these items and delves into the Islands rich history uncovering some of the more unusual and quirky tales of the past.

Rich tapestries, ornate vases, extravagant items of clothing, forgotten toys, there are countless items that are guaranteed to spark curiosity and wonder in all who perceive them.

Carisbrooke Castle Museum is a charity-run independent accredited museum and remains dedicated to the Island’s rich and varied history, this book is a wonderful encapsulation of this.

About the authors
Dr Rachel Tait is the Curator at Carisbrooke Castle Museum. One of her main priorities for the museum’s collection is acquiring contemporary artefacts, ensuring it remains relevant to future generations.

Kate Tiley is the Assistant Curator at Carisbrooke Castle Museum. Her research interests include the museum’s collection of historic costume and textiles.
