Ventnor Branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) will be commemorating the 100th 
anniversary of the start of World War I, otherwise known as the Great War, on the weekend of 1st–4th August 2014.
Re-dedication of War Memorial
We will also be taking the opportunity of the anniversary to re-dedicate the War Memorial which is situated in the beautiful Ventnor Park.
It is planned to hold a Service of Commemoration at Holy Trinity Church in Ventnor to be followed by a march to the War Memorial in Park Avenue for the re-dedication of the memorial, which will be followed by a reception at a venue to be confirmed.

Ventnor RBL will be extending invitations to the Lord Lieutenant of the Island, Andrew Turner MP, the Leader of the Council, ex-servicemen and women, local dignitaries and special guests, as well as extending an invitation to members of the public who may wish to be involved.
