Vestas Protester Reaction To Andrew Turner’s Press Statement (podcast x 2) Update

We showed Andrew Turner’s press release to the Vestas protesters who had made their way over to his constituency office to speak to him, finding it shut unexpectedly.

Vestas Protester Reaction To Andrew Turner's Press Statement (podcast)As they hadn’t see it before, on of them read it out loud to the rest of them and we recorded their reaction (audio below).

One of the ex-Vestas workers, Phil, gave us a reaction.

“If we’re committed to this policy of an Eco Island, we should be leading the way. We should have the turbines here. If we get them first, then where we lead other will follow.

“What’s the alternative? Catastrophic climate change, which may end up destroying all of these area of natural beauty anyway.

“Certainly I think he could have at least stayed around to talk to us, it wasn’t just these guys (motioning to those who took part in the East Cowes Vestas roof top protest) who were coming up to see him, it was workers as well.

He concluded by saying, “I guess we’ll have to make another appointment.”

Have a listen to Phil …

Jake’s view
We also got a comment from Jake who had been on the roof at the East Cowes Vestas plant.

“We made it very clear that we were coming with members of his constituency, so this is a cowardly response.

“Him saying that he doesn’t want these things (wind turbines) imposed on the Island is a bogus response.

“Although it is to some extent an imposition, it clearly it is within reason to put them there to avoid catastrophic climate change and to stop economic and social collapse on the Island.

“It’s clearly an acceptable imposition to put them there … especially as many people don’t see it as an industrial problem.”
