Warrant Issued for Simon Wheeler after no-show in Isle of Wight restraining order case

There has been yet another delay in the sentencing of an East Cowes man who breached a restraining order against an Isle of Wight councillor, in a case relating to offences that occurred in February and March, 2022.

A warrant has been issued for Simon Wheeler, of Albany Road, after he failed to turn up for court yesterday (Friday, 14th April).

Medical episode
The court heard Wheeler had suffered a medical episode.

In March, he was found guilty, at the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court, of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

‘Deliberately’ breached restraining order twice
Wheeler also ‘deliberately’ twice breached his restraining order against Karl Love, magistrates found.

He had been ordered to have no direct or indirect contact with the Isle of Wight councillor.

Hostile behaviour towards probation officers
The court was told Wheeler’s hostile behaviour towards probation officers meant a pre-sentence report was not produced for today.

Barry Arnett, representing Wheeler, said he had intended to ask for an adjournment.
