Wight AONB celebrate Lottery Fund grant with a year of activities

Thanks to Tom’s Eco Lodge for the headsup on this news from Wight AONB. Sounds like a really interesting project. Ed

The IW Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Partnership (Wight AONB) is one of the first groups in the UK to receive a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) ‘All Our Stories’ grant.

This exciting project, ‘When I Was Younger I Remember’ is led by Wight AONB and has been given £8,800.

50 events over 12 months
In 2013 it will be 50 years since half the Isle of Wight was designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

To celebrate this milestone Wight AONB are holding 50 events and activities over the course of the year to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Island’s AONB.

Recording changes over 50 years
One of these activities is the ‘When I Was Younger I Remember’ project which invites ‘Caulk Heads’, ‘Overners’ and ‘Grockles’ of all ages to come forward with photographs, tickets, postcards and recollections of the Island since the 60’s with the aim of recording how the Island’s natural and historic landscape has changed over 50 years.
