Despite reports in many other publications that Wight Link are about to offer broadband access on their ferries, we’d advise you to not get too excited just yet.
Those who read the news wires correctly rather than just churn the press releases, will have realised that the access is for ‘captain and crew only’ at the moment.
Andrew Willson, Wightlink’s chief executive said “By equipping our ferries with always-on, high-speed broadband technology from Moovera Networks, we’re able to ensure our captains and crew have instant access to online resources throughout the voyage”,
“We’re also laying the foundation for public Wi-Fi hotspot services as we continually seek ways to improve the passenger experience.”
We’re waiting to hear back from Wightlink as to exactly when the Wi-Fi service will become available to the general public and will let you know once we do.
