Yours & Mine release début single and video

We love hearing about the success of Islanders on and off the Isle of Wight, so were pleased to hear that the début single by Island band, Yours & Mine has now gone live on iTunes, Spotify and all other top digital stores.

Not only that, but they also have a great video to accompany the single. It was shot by David Greenman and the hugely talented Oscar May.

If you’ve not heard of Yours & Mine, the three-piece indie-pop band were formed in 2011. Marc Dyer is on lead vocals and guitar, Jordan Simpkins on bass and Nate Webber on drums.

Busy summer schedule
The début single comes hot on the heels of live performances at Isle of Wight Festival and Bestival.

Resurrecting a 50s blues-rock sonic ensemble, this simple yet moving single tells a tale of nostalgic heartbreak delivered by virtue of the tri-vocal harmonies from band members.

Crying is out on Your Hands Music (Bluebell, Gabrielle Aplin, The Operators).

Restricted capacity? Does that mean there will be a limit on the number of journalists allowed or the media organisations they represent? I hardly think there will be a media scrum for places – six at most! Or could it be an attempt to stage manage the press conference and restrict the questions allowed? Most politicians want maximum exposure particularly at the start of their election campaign… Read more »

Restricted capacity, or restricted questioning ability by the press ?

Mrs Retired Hack

Restricted capacity? At a press conference at the Riverside Centre? Come off it, I would have thought Mr Turner might have welcomed the Press – after all, they can’t be any more antagonistic towards him than some of the IWCA, and probably a good deal less. I’ve spent more than 30 years as a journalist, and any case where an organisation has tried to resist access by… Read more »

I doubt it’s a conspiracy. Maybe he’ll need to book a bigger room?

Conspire generally means to combine for evil purpose, I can’t see that on the agenda. Any person standing for parliament at this stage would want a sensible meeting that is forward looking and positive. A T would not want the past months issues detracting from that, so why not be a bit selective in who can ask questions and keep to real Island Issues not his personal… Read more »

A conspiracy also needs more than one participant. Since there is now only one surviving member of the three-strong campiagn team (Cllr Whitehouse), the need for a conspiracy is neatly removed. As to selecting who can ask questions, that’s rather chicken and egg, isn’t it? You don’t know what the questions are going to be until they’ve been asked, so what you’re in fact suggesting is that… Read more »

You put that very well, the skill will be in the delivery of the answers and who is observed to have answered. At some stage he will have to stand up and be his own man, and I hope he succeeds. Thank goodness C W is not a manipulative man, who is ambitious. “Et Tu Brutus” or in the Greek “KA Su Teknon” which was the language… Read more »

The story above describes this launch as a ‘press conference’. The Investopedia website says a press conference is ‘a meeting organised for the purposes of distributing information to the media and answering questions from reporters’. So, as it a press conference from our MP, who has represented the Island for almost 14 years, he will be able to answer questions from reporters put to him orally during… Read more »

Maybe AT should adopt the apparent IWCA method of just “leaking” the information to the media?

bill lucas

It works like this: a journalist (CP, OTW, IW Radio, BBC etc) puts up their hand,

Are you party to something that as yet is not in the public domain, all we know is “Restricted Numbers”

You do seem to be a little rattled or does it come in cans

Does not the Riverside Centre’s function room cater for 250 people?

bill lucas
5, January 2015 8:12 pm

Yes 250 or there about, however restricted could be AT’s office .
Its a big call and a brave one, lets hope it goes well and it’s not too orchestrated.

An office event would be a just another meeting not a “press conference!

Let’s hope the press have the opportunity to get beyond the pre approved written questions submitted in advance to the super papal knight, papal knight . Can Mr Turner face an actual real life press conference as described so admirably by Castlewez’s earlier . I very much doubt it. Perhaps Mr T can wear an ear piece and have CW, CD and NF tweeting, twittering or even… Read more »

Rather like that which happens on both sides of the House of Commons?

Hopefully there will be some “real” journalists present who will pose forensic Paxman-like questions about policies and not just “Red-Top” gossip about expenses ans personal relationships.

After Private Eye’s revelations in HP Sauce how can Andrew Turner hang on? Surely both he and Lady Macbeth realise that the game is up and that she and Mr Finney have been well and truly rumbled as to the true purpose of their ‘support’. The so called fiancée scenario is exposed for what it was. We all look forward to the realisation of the joint assets… Read more »

Hardly old news, keep up ! See IWCP, and read carefully, there is to be an Election launch to the press (!) for Mr Turner on Monday, an Isle of Wight Conservative Executive Committee on 23rd January, activists and members of the Conservatives calling for Mr Turner to step down. lots of questions to be asked and answered. Perhaps if his entourage disappeared Mr Turner may see… Read more »

Do we trust the reports in CP (Conservative Press?) and/or the protestations of political architects and councillors of the previous IWC? The latter left a disastrous legacy of bad long-term decisions for the island, were economic with the truth when challenged, ran away from the electorate in the last Council elections, indulge in dirty politics (attacking AT’s health, record and family matter) and now attacking the Chair… Read more »
