Island Independents seek parliamentary candidate to promote in 2015 elections

The Association of the current ruling group of the Isle of Wight council, the Island Independents, have announced plans to promote an Independent Parliamentary Candidate at the 2015 General Election.

The Island Independent Group gained 15 seats in the local election, and recruited a further five individual independent winning candidates following the count on 3rd May 2013, giving them 20 seats on the council and gaining the majority over the other political groups. This created the first wholly independent ruling council in 40 years.

The Association of that Group are now appealing to Islanders who might be interested in standing as an Independent parliamentary candidate (under the Bell Principles) to get in touch.

The Executive Committee of the Association comprises of Keith Fagan, Honorary President; Peter Whiteman, Chairperson; Wendy Cook, Vice-Chairperson; Alexander Gryffe, Secretary and Membership Officer; Mike Powell, Treasurer and Committee Members David Bottom, Vanessa Churchman, Judith Ferris, Heather Humby, Karen Lucioni and Vincent Valvona.
